EQUIPATHON 2023

-Equipping the Differently Abled

Preamble

The main aim of this equipathon is to empower students to learn and apply the latest emerging technologies, such as AI and IoT, in finding breakthroughs and innovative solutions to ease the day- to-day life of the differently-abled. The intent is to provide cost-effective, time-effective, and environmentally friendly solutions.

Many people live with a lot of disabilities such as mobility, vision, hearing, mental, etc. There are many assistive devices to help them lead a better and safer life. An assistive technology device is a "piece of equipment/product system, whether acquired commercially off the shelf, modified, or customized, to assist the individuals with disabilities".

Though there are many assistive devices in use, still there is a need to improve the functional capabilities of those devices to help them live independently by inheriting the benefits of the latest technologies. Besides, differently-abled people in developing and underdeveloped countries are mostly unaware of such sophisticated devices, which either may not be available or may not be affordable. Hence, there is a need to design cost-effective devices to help differently-abled people in any resource setting.

Objective

• Find solutions to problems of humanity using AI and IoT techniques
• Develop a unique idea and convert it to reality with a working prototype.
• Collaborate as a team of Interdisciplinary Departments to propose and design hardware and the corresponding application software.

Guidelines

• Event is open for students of all the Departments.
• This is a team event. A team is limited to a maximum of four members. Teams can also be formed by students from interdisciplinary departments, with atleast one team member from CSE Department. A faculty member should be chosen by each team to act as their mentor.
• Winning teams in Ideathon will attend special bootcamps to launch their projects and take part in the equipathon.
• Equipathon winners will receive cash prizes and certificates.
• All participants will receive participation certificates.

Rules for Ideathon

• The proposed title can be either a hardware or a software-based product. The Idea should be novel when compared to the existing approaches, addressing the issues with these. It should be a cost-effective and feasible solution.
• Reviewers will evaluate the novel idea presented by the teams.
• Winning teams will continue the project.

Rules for Equipathon

• The winners of the Ideathon will attend a special bootcamp to kickstart their project.
• Intermittent reviews will be conducted based on the schedule.
• The project needs to be demonstrated during the equipathon.
